The Frederick County Sheriff's Office announced that Deputy First Class (Dfc.) Bittenmaster was patrolling near the Monrovia Park N' Ride on Baldwin Road at around 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 21 when a suspiciously parked white 2023 Honda CR-V caught his eye.
After confirming the vehicle had been reported stolen, Dfc. Bittenmaster noticed three other CR-Vs—two blue (2024 and 2025 models) and one black (2024 model)—similarly parked in the lot.
All bore Delaware plates and were reported stolen from Middletown, Delaware.
The deputy's quick work and attention to detail ensured the vehicles, collectively valued at $117,510, were recovered and towed for safekeeping pending their return to their owners, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.
“This discovery was an excellent example of the value of proactive policing,” Sheriff Jenkins said, praising Dfc. Bittenmaster’s initiative. “He is a highly motivated member of the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.”
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the New Castle County Police Department in Delaware, which had been investigating the thefts.
It remains under investigation.
